TiVo mentions Android and iPhone apps coming

The latest issue of CEPro's magazine has given away apparent plans by TiVo to expand its mobile apps beyond the iPad version. A full-page ad pitching the Premiere XL to custom installers mentions that TiVo has been developing apps for "the iPhone and Android OS products" alongside the iPad title. What features would change, and whether the Android app would include tablets, has been left open.

A timeframe for the release is equally unclear and might not see it show for some months.

TiVo has hinted it planned to grow its mobile apps beyond the iPad for some time but has never formally set out its plans until now. The support has become more important over time both as a faster way of navigating the TiVo interface as well as exploiting features beyond the DVR, such as Internet video streaming and local media sharing.
