HTC Evo 4G Plus to be 2D cousin of Evo 3D
HTC's mystery Rider smartphone has been identified in a sighting that confirmed most of its details. The phone would virtually be a 2D adaptation of the Evo 3D with a single eight-megapixel camera in place of the twin five-megapixel sensors. PocketNow also understood it would have the same dual-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon, 4.3-inch, 540x960 display, and 1GB of RAM.
The phone would be repurposed primarily for Koreans with WiBro, the local variant of WiMAX, and HSPA+ 3G on the 900MHz and 2,100MHz bands used in most areas outside of North America. HTC's conversion efforts would flip the 3D switch to a hardware toggle between photo and video modes.
HTC is likely to unveil the Evo 4G+ in the near future. A launch as-is is only likely for Korea. Most other carriers and countries outside of Sprint are being served by the Sensation 4G, which has all but the WiBro/WiMAX inside.
