Mobile browser offers under-the-hood tweaks

Mozilla has launched an update to its mobile Firefox browser for Android-based devices. Version 5 brings a number of performance tweaks, along with the same do-not-track feature that was recently added to the desktop variant. Like the desktop feature, however, the tracking opt-out option is only supported by a limited number of websites.

The company suggests the update offers improved page load speeds, particularly when using 3G connections, while the panning responsiveness has also been enhanced. Users can also expect improved compatibility with SwiftKey keyboards, along with an expanded list of mobile add-ons.

Firefox 5 is now available as a free download from the Android Market.
