New wireless trackball offers centered design
Kensington has announced its Orbit Wireless Mobile Trackball and an update to its TrackBallWorks 1.1 software. The new trackball is designed specifically for mobile use, sized for easy carrying with a mid-sized, centered ball that can be easily removed for cleaning. It is wireless, operating on the 2.4GHz band, connecting via a USB dongle.
The software update adds inertial scrolling, which adjusts for momentum, new paste templates and more trackball click capabilities using the flexible command builder.
The new trackball is available for pre-order, with updated software expected to follow the product release -- the current, 1.0 version can be downloaded now and works with OS X 10.4.11 or higher and also Windows. When the trackball ships it will cost $60, while the software is free.
Kensington has also announced new iPad gear, beginning with the KeyFolio Pro Performance Bluetooth Keyboard Folio Case for iPad 2. It provides a keyboard with built-in Bluetooth, folds to a multi position stand and has a rotatable frame for both landscape and portrait use. It is optimized for in-case use and travel and has openings for the front and rear cameras. It will ship soon and can be pre-ordered now for $100.
The Virtuoso Stylus is a writing tool for the iPad with a soft tip that will ship in eleven colors, including black, white, red and blue, and will retail for $15 when it ships.
New cases include the BlackBelt Protection Band for iPad, which wraps the iPad in a rubber casing that leaves openings for the iPad's ports and cameras. It is now shipping for $30. The Kensington Protective Back Cover provides rear protection to an iPad 2 with a Smart Cover. It will ship in black, white or clear for $20.
The Protective Folio and Stand for iPad 2 is a folio-styled hard case -- the front face opens to a stand with four preset angles of display -- and the Protective Cover and Stand for iPad 2 unfolds to a two-position stand when not in transport. The Folio case will ship for $50 and the Cover case will cost $40.
