Launch plans for North America unclear
Sharp appears to be readying another Android-based handset, which carries the model number SH8188U. Leaked images posted on Unwired View show a slate design, without a QWERTY keyboard or other hardware buttons. The display is said to offer WVGA resolution and fills most of the facade, however the corner-to-corner measurement remains unclear.
Users should expect to see Android 2.2, along with a full set of smartphone features such as Wi-Fi, 3G, HDMI output, and HD video recording from the five-megapixel camera. The device is said to be powered by a 1GHz Snapdragon processor.
Filings with the Bluetooth SIG suggest the SH8188U will arrive in North America, Europe and Asia, however the company has yet to confirm launch details or pricing.
