Motorola Droid 3 dated in Best Buy system
A sighting in Best Buy's inventory system has put a narrower release date on the Motorola Droid 3. It lists the Verizon-tailored phone as being in stores on July 14, fitting in with Verizon's preference for Thursday launches. Droid Attic's view put it one week later than a commonly talked-about July 7 date.
The Droid 3 is mostly a speedier replacement for the Droid 2 that upgrades to a dual-core, 1GHz TI OMAP4430 processor. A slightly larger and crisper four-inch, 540x960 display and an eight-megapixel camera give it an extra boost. Motorola's design superficially resembles the Droid 2 but adds a fifth row to the keyboard.
Software is much the same as on the Droid X2 and runs on Android 2.3 with a newer version of Motorola's Blur layer.
