Best Buy no longer shipping MacBook Air via web
Best Buy gave one of the clearest signs yet on Sunday of a new MacBook Air about to launch. The retailer's listings for current-generation models now show all of them as "not available for shipping." Physical stores are still carrying the ultraportables, but the move may be just to consolidate supply where it's most needed.
In the UK, Best Buy will allow ordering a MacBook Air with 128GB of storage, but only for in-store pickup and then only at some locations. Some stores both in the US and the UK have run out.
Apple's own online stores still show 24-hour availability but may not necessarily see shipping times lengthen as a new release gets closer.
Most anticipate Apple shipping a new Air once Lion is ready, which could be as soon as early July. The exact configurations are still unknown, though at least some are poised to use 1.7GHz and 1.8GHz Core i5 and i7 chips with Intel's much improved integrated video. It's presumed Apple will swap the pure Mini DisplayPort for Thunderbolt and increase the RAM, storage, or both. [via 9to5]
