The A-Team claims to have exposed LulzSec

A team which calls itself “The A-Team” is claiming to have exposed the identities of the members of LulzSec. LulzSec have been causing havoc over the past 50 days hacking into the servers of numerous organisations, accessing and then publishing the personal information it reaped from its attacks. The exposure of the individuals behind LuzSec may have been a factor that prompted the group to issue a statement that it was quitting its hacking activities.

In its statement on the matter, The A-Team says that groups like LulzSec who believe that they can hide on the Internet are deluding themselves. A digital-footprint is always left behind they argue, and that by being prepared to dig deeply enough, hacking activities are almost always traceable.

The A-Team also accuses LulzSec of not being not “really that good at hacking”, using simplistic exploits and trying to get lucky with what they might find. The A-Team also calls the groups “kids” whose activities will increase the very security that they claim that they are ideologically opposed to.

Authorities claim to have made one arrest in the case, which turned out to be the arrest of an IRC channel operator who had no direct knowledge of the LulzSec hacks. With personal details of the LulzSec hackers seemingly exposed, including references to their Facebook pages, it remains to be seen if further arrests follow. [via @zzap - Twitter]
