LaCie and Porsche Design out USB 3.0 hard drives

Maker of high-style external hard drives LaCie has partnered with Porsche Design on two new external hard drives. Both are available with USB 3.0 for faster transfer speeds and include the LaCie Porsche Design Mobile Hard Drive P'9220 and the LaCie Porsche Design Desktop Hard Drive P'9230. Each has a brushed aluminum exterior that is efficient at wicking away heat and is completely recyclable.

Each is compatible with either PCs or Macs thanks to included software that also includes backup utilities. There is an eco mode for saving power when the drive is idle, a password protection feature, and 10GB of online storage from LaCie's own Wuala cloud service.

The P'9220 will be available in 500GB and 1TB capacities from LaCie, while a 750GB version will be sold at Porsche Design stores. The 500GB model listed thus far is priced at $105. The P'9230 is available in a 1TB model for $120 and 2TB for $160.

    sounds good to me

anyone dou.che-y enough to overpay for conspicuous consumption like this, deserves to find out the hard way that it makes far more sense to spend that money on reliable hard drives.

    maybe they should…

maybe they should concentrate more on power supplies that don't die and firewire ports that don't fry.
