Samsung Hercules gets radio approval, launch close

The Samsung T989, thought to be the Samsung Hercules, may have already received Bluetooth and Wi-Fi approval. According to TMO News sources, it appears that the device received its certification on 23 June. If correct, the likely T-Mobile version of the Samsung Infuse 4G is tracking for a possible release in August or September.

The Samsung Infuse 4G, which is currently available on the AT&T network, is one of Samsung’s current flagship devices. It features the largest display on a Samsung smartphone to date at 4.5-inches. The Super AMOLED Plus display has a resolution of 480x800 making it ideal for movie viewing.

It runs a single-core processor, but which is clocked at 1.2GHz that should help it deliver ample performance to multi-task smoothly. On AT&T’s network, it supports HSPA+ at 21Mbps and currently ships with Android 2.2.

The T-Mobile variant is rumored to have a dual-core processor also clocked at 1.2GHz and may also ship with Android 2.3. It is also thought to be the first phone to support HSPA+ running at a bandwidth of 42Mbps.
