HP TouchPad makes early appearance in Kansas
The HP TouchPad has made an appearance in-store at Wal-Mart ahead of its July 1 release date. A fully functional unit has been put on display as a demo model in a Pittsburg, Kansas store for customers to familiarize themselves with. One customer has noticed the 9.7-inch iPad competitor and took a video of it in action (embedded below) that offers a useful insight into the fluidity of webOS 3.0.
In the video, the customer plays a looping demo video that shows the TouchPad's capabilities and the way the OS functions. The customer then takes the user through a demonstration of the way the OS works with its swipe and pinch gestures. Based on this early pre-view, it looks like a very impressive and responsive device.
The HP TouchPad will be priced at $500 for the Wi-Fi-only 16GB model. The 32GB, Wi-Fi-only model will ship for $600. A carrier-subsidized version that will be carried by AT&T will ship late in the summer. [via Palm Infocenter]
