Tag Heuer outs ultra-luxury rugged Link phone
Tag Heuer is no stranger to making ultra-luxury handsets, and is now back with another mega-dollar offering. The Android-powered Link smartphone differs from other similar exclusive devices as it's more rugged. The maker says the device is impervious to water, shock, and dust, and has a 3.5-inch Gorilla Glass screen to guard against scratches.
Those rugged cases can be ordered in steel, 18-carat rose gold and titanium paired with rubber, alligator, leather, and trim made from other materials. It runs on Android 2.2 and has just 256MB or internal space, but an 8GB microSD card is included. The handset has Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and WAPI radios built-in and is compatible with any SIM card. Four-band GSM and tri-band HSPA 3G radios are also present. A five-megapixel rear-facing camera provides photos.
Pricing for the handset starts at a steep 4,700 Euros (about $6,750) that puts it in competition with Nokia's Vertu. [via ABlogToRead]
