Motorola Droid HD snaps Flickr photos

A mystery Android phone has surfaced in a Flickr photo set that has given clues either to a new device or to a rebadge of the Droid Bionic. Identified as a "Droid HD," the camera was caught taking photos with a generic account but geotagged to Motorola's campus in Libertyville, Illinois. The same account, Droid-Life saw, was also shooting photos with a still unofficial Droid 3 and clearly has access to prototype devices.

The Droid HD name may reflect the Bionic given Motorola's decision to switch to TI processors in the phone. Newer TI OMAP chips can handle as much as 1080p video and could justify the HD title. The Bionic could also have at least an eight-megapixel camera and may go as high as 14 megapixels.

Motorola has only gone on record promising a new Bionic in the summer but has dropped increasing clues that the new phone is actually a completely new model that it may have started working on just weeks after the Bionic debut in January. A combination of the LTE 4G chipset and the originally planned NVIDIA Tegra 2 may be to blame.
