Slightly smaller relative of the Galaxy S II

Samsung will begin selling the Galaxy Z Android 2.3 smartphone in Sweden through wireless carrier 3. The phone bears a strong resemblance to the popular Galaxy S II. The main differences appear to be a slightly smaller 4.2-inch, 480x800 SC-LCD touchscreen and a less powerful NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor.

It also comes with a stepped down five-megapixel camera with LED flash, which can capture 720p video. In contrast, the Galaxy S II sports a 4.3-inch, 540x960 Super AMOLED Plus screen, an eight-megapixel camera, and a more powerful 1.2GHz Exynos dual-core processor.

3 will sell the phone for $630 without a contract, or give it away free with a two-year commitment. It's unknown which other countries will get the Galaxy Z. [via GSMarena]
