Device slated for mid-July launch

Vizio has begun taking pre-orders for its upcoming tablet, which is paired with a $400 price tag. The pre-order price appears to be slightly higher than earlier reports suggested, with several rumors and a Walmart leak pointing to a budget-focused pricing structure starting at $349. The pre-order page also confirms a ship date of July 18.

The tablet features an eight-inch display with 1024x768 resolution, a front-facing VGA camera, 802.11n Wi-Fi, GPS, and a 1GHz processor with 512MB of RAM. Many of the features are focused on home theater integration, including HDMI output, infrared transmitter, a universal remote app, SRS TruMedia sround, and HDCP streaming.

Vizio is now accepting pre-orders directly from the company's website. [via Engadget]
