Motorola Droid 3 hitting stores July 14

As expected, the Motorola Droid 3 is to hit Verizon stores on July 14. According to the leak, customers on contract who wish to upgrade will be able to do so in store by direct fulfillment from July 7. All other customers will be able to purchase the device in store and online from July 14 for an expected price of $199 on a two year plan.

The Droid 3 will be Motorola’s first dual-core slider, incorporating a TI OMAP4430 chip and will feature the same 4-inch qHD high pixel density 540x960 display as used in the Motorola Atrix. It will also feature an 8-megapixel camera on the rear capable of recording in 1080p. 16GB of flash is built-in an it includes a microSD expansion slot for up to an additional 32GB.

One feature that a number of Droid 2 users may have been hoping for as an inducement to upgrade to the Droid 3 was for the device to include 4G LTE capabilities, which it does not get this time around sticking with a 3G radio. [via Droid Life]
