Verizon adds $30 unlimited tethering plan for 4G

Verizon has made its intentions known for customers currently using 4G LTE devices who remain on unlimited plans. The telco recently announced that it is to end unlimited data plans for new users on July 6, which is to be replaced by tiered plans topping out at $80/month for up to 10GB of data. For an additional $20 a month, 3G customers, Verizon has offered the option to add a tethering to their plan. In addition to these changes, all current customers with 4G LTE devices grandfathered into unlimited data plans will have the option to pay a separate $30 per month for unlimited tethering from July 7.

Current 4G LTE customers also have access to Verizon's unlimited mobile hotspot promo through to July 6. However, after that the only remaining option will be to add the additional $30 plan and not the $20 per month 2GB tier. Users of the Thunderbolt, Charge and Revolution will receive an automatic update pushed to their handsets cutting off the free hotspot function.

New customers signing up from July 7 onwards will now have the option to add a $20 2GB tier as will new 3G customers. [via Droid Life]
