Anonymous launches 'light' hack against Apple

Anonymous hack Apple survey site because it can

Anonymous on Sunday boasted of a minor hack into Apple's servers. The rare move scraped a list of admin users and passwords for a survey site from a MySQL table. A statement from the collective claimed it as part of its AntiSec (anti-security) push but also implied that it had more important targets.

"Don't worry, we are busy elsewhere," Anonymous said.

Apple hadn't issued a response as of Sunday evening. Anonymous' means of attack wasn't evident but could involve an SQL injection.

The company's devices have often been hacked to get around software restrictions, but it has seldom been the subject of a central remote server hack. Most instances have targeted individual accounts, such as iTunes or MobileMe users and more often involve brute force attempts. Many of the organizations hit by the AntiSec initiative, such as the Arizona Border Police, have often inadvertently courted attacks through political or economic stances that Anonymous and now retired group LulzSec saw as anti-liberty.
