TI settles lawsuit with Wi-LAN over BT patents

Texas Instruments is the latest company to agree to settle a patent lawsuit with Canadian company Wi-LAN. TI is one of about 15 large tech companies that got named in a lawsuit that alleges these companies violate a patent Wi-LAN holds related to Bluetooth technology in electronic devices. The financial details of the settlement aren't being disclosed, however.

Back in January, Intel settled with Wi-LAN over the same patent and some others, and February saw CSR Plc do the same. In either case, the amounts weren't revealed. Wi-LAN expected to force settlements from the companies even before the lawsuit got to court.

Wi-LAN holds nearly 525 wireless technology patents related to Wi-Fi, CDMA, Bluetooth and DSL technologies.
