Product names to focus on Google brand

Google is reportedly planning to rebrand its Blogger and Picasa products as part of a broader strategy to reinforce Google Plus. The company is said to be renaming Blogger as "Google Blogs," while Picasa will allegedly become "Google Photos," unnamed sources have told Mashable. Most of Google's other properties, such as YouTube, will reportedly maintain existing branding.

The sources suggest the name switch is set to occur sometime in the next four to six weeks. If true, the schedule may coincide with the public launch of Google Plus, which is expected before the end of the month.

It remains unclear if Picasa and Blogger face additional changes to enable a deeper level of integration with Google Plus. The company recently previewed new interfaces for Gmail and Calendars, modifying the utilities with minor tweaks to match the layout and color style from the social network.
