SOS button sends GPS location to rescuers

VEA Digital has introduced a new watch, the Sportive, that centers around a 1.5-inch touchscreen. The device offers a variety of smartphone-like features, enabling users to take advantage of a camera, GPS, 8GB of onboard storage, an MP3 player and Bluetooth connectivity.

The interface is geared for athletes, allowing runners to monitor their lap times, heart rate, instant speed, and altitude. The GPS data can also be used in an emergency, with a dedicated SOS button that transmits location information to a third-party service.

The Sportive is expected to ship on July 14 for 399 (~$575 USD); the price jumps to 499 (~$719) USD in September. [via Engadget]
