Works with djay and other CoreMIDI apps
Numark has introduced a new hardware controller for the iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch called iDJ Live, and teamed up with djay makers algoriddim to add support for the popular DJ software. Users can mix and scratch music directly linked to their iTunes library in djay or other CoreMIDI-enabled DJ apps, providing an ultra-responsive hardware-based interface.
The iDJ Live setup includes two large performance discs along with a mixer section in a solid piece that recreates the two-turntable traditional setup. The hardware comes complete with an iPad DJ stand, a custom audio cable for connecting to headphones and a sound system, and the 30-pin dock connector needed to interface with the software.
The central mixer features a crossfader along with loop point features and standard mixer controls in the form of buttons and knobs to enhance the tactile feel. In combination with the djay software (sold separately, $20 for the iPad version or for a limited time $1 for the iPhone version), aspiring DJs will have an ideal setup that replicates the powerful abilities and hardware of the professionals, without the pro pricetag.
The iDJ Live hardware station is expected to retail for $100 and is available now from musician and DJ speciality retailers.
