Drive pairs USB with SD card reader

Maxell has announced that it will begin distributing AirStash, a wireless flash drive that works with the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch. The small accessory serves as a USB flash drive with an SD card slot, while an internal battery enables standalone operation without being attached to a computer. Users can wirelessly transfer files between devices via Wi-Fi, or use the AirStash for media streaming.

The company claims the device offers a line-of-sight range of up to 50 meters, while supporting up to eight simultaneous connections. Connections can be secured using WEP, with WPA to be supported in a future firmware update.

The AirStash is now available directly from Maxell for $100.
