Netbook lid offers solar panel

Samsung has reportedly delayed its launch plans for the NC215S solar netbook, which was initially expected to ship in the first week of July. The device offers a standard set of notebook features, but with a lid that doubles as a solar panel to help charge the battery. Samsung claims the solar charger will provide one hour of runtime for every two hours of sunlight exposure.

The netbook is powered by a 1.66 GHz dual-core Atom N570 processor, while the 10.1-inch display offers 1024x600 resolution and a matte finish. Other standard features include 802.11n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0, 1GB of RAM, and a 250GB hard drive.

The NC215S can be pre-ordered from sites such as Amazon, with prices averaging around $399. [via Liliputing]
