Apple Stores show 80% year-over-year growth
Apple has reportedly achieved the position of fastest-growing retailer in the US, according to retail analysts David Berman. The company's first-quarter sales are said to have grown to $4.6 billion, marking an 80 percent increase from the same period last year. The number also represents 20 percent of the entire sales growth across all publicly traded retailers in the US.
"People don't realize how much money has been diverted to Apple," Berman says, as quoted by USA Today.
The company's retail outlets have been particularly successful, with first-quarter revenue nearly doubling from the same quarter last year. Overall sales from Apple Stores reached $3.2 billion, mostly from locations in the US.
Recent reports suggest Apple's Mac sales have continued to grow at a strong pace, while most other companies face sliding sales in the US market. Numbers collected by IDC point to a 15 percent year-over-year increase in computer shipments, pushing Apple up to the third place.
Analysts have also voiced high expectations for iPhone sales this year, with some estimates pointing to over 77 million handsets.

Amazing
I'm happy that Apple is finding the success that longtime believers always thought it deserved. I still remember when I was part of a tiny minority and less than 3% market share.
