AT&T confirms it will carry subsidized Sony S2

AT&T on Wednesday confirmed that it will offer Sony's S2 tablet on its 3G network, as indicated by FCC tests. AT&T will be the exclusive provider to do so, and in addition to the mobile data network, users will also have access to the more than 20,000 AT&T hotspots spread around the US. Despite the announcement, AT&T didn't reveal monthly plan pricing, a launch date for the tablet, or what it will cost.

The dual-screen Android 3-powered S2 is expected to come in at $699, thought that's an unsubsidized price. Its dual 5.5-inch, 1024x480 screens will allow for PlayStation Suite games with virtual controls instead of the hardware on the Xperia Play.

The S2 and its single-screen S1 sibling were said to ship in the fall, but new leaks indicate a September date is most likely.
