Cius Wi-Fi tablet ships at Verizon this summer

The Cisco Cius tablet that went on pre-order back in April will ship this summer, Verizon announced on Wednesday. The pro Android tablet will initially, however, only be available to Verizon's enterprise and government customers. It will be the Wi-Fi version of the slate, with no built-in 3G or 4G.

The carrier instead suggests combining it with a 4G LTE mobile hotspot, however, for data access while on the go. A front-facing camera is built in that supports 720p video for video conferencing, as is a rear-facing five-megapixel camera. Ethernet and USB connections are also rare contributions, and Cisco's networking experience comes into play with VPN and WebEx support.

A 4G version of the tablet is still expected later on, though when it arrives remains to be seen. A recent report regarding the HSPA+ version of the tablet put it at a price of $750 and maintained that access to an AppHQ app market will be available.
