Haier shows HaiPad with phone functionality

China's Haier has unveiled a new so-called smartphone tablet with the HaiPad. The seven-inch tablet will indeed have the ability to make phone calls and is powered by Android 2.2, though customized by DianXin. An 800MHz Freescale iMX515 A8 processor powers the tablet, which has both 3G and Wi-Fi.

The device will otherwise get dual cameras, with one of them likely to be facing the front to allow for video chats. The tablet will be available in five colors, including red, black, green, blue and yellow. It may also ship in or near August, with prices set at 3,299RMB (nearly $500).

Haier is one of China's largest electronics makers but has been relatively slow to get into tablets versus rivals like Huawei. [via Engadget]

How stupid are they? HaiPad? Are you fskcking kidding me? Normally the stupid s*** they come up with in their stinking factories just rolls off like polluted water off a duck. But this kind of asinine stunt just pisses me off. As an aapl shareholder, I want the smirk wiped off their faces by the legal team like yesterday!
