SKUs show for white MacBook and Mac mini

A new leak Wednesday has at once expanded and corrected beyond new part numbers. While MacBook Air SKUs were correct, one of the Mac Pro listings was actually for a new white MacBook, the MC914LL/A. The 9to5 tip didn't identify features, though the lone model is likely to use an Intel Core i3 or i5 and a Thunderbolt port along with expanded storage.

The other SKUs were also corrections and were reflecting Mac minis. An MC815LL/A model will be the most common Mac mini, while an MC936LL/A would be the Mac mini server with a second hard drive in place of the optical drive. A third model, MC816LL/A, would likely be a common high-end BTO model for retail or some online orders.

All of the Mac minis are expected to make the leap to Core i3 or i5 and support Thunderbolt. Rumors have brought up the idea of a price drop but haven't been substantiated so far.

The MacBook Air is still poised to be the inaugural Lion system and should ship next week, likely in step with Lion itself. It may be accompanied by white MacBooks, but Mac minis and Mac Pros have usually been hinted for a late July or early August schedule. The pro towers may be waiting on a Xeon E5 processor not officially due to ship from Intel until late into the year.

    Amazing Apple

Apple is simply amazing. Year after year, they refuse to offer us a practical desktop of the sort any Windows user can get from numerous sources. They force us to choose between a too-tiny Mac mini, a virtually unfixable iMac and a too-big Mac Pro. None of them are remotely normal. All are odd, quirky, niche products.

And what is worst of all, we put up with it.

You think you need something "practical"? Steve thinks otherwise. He'll TELL you what you need.
And yes. The sheep will think it's the best thing on the planet.

Apple products aren't for everyone, nor do they claim to be.

Complaining that Apple "doesn't allow for this, or let you do that" is a bit like complaining that BMW doesn't make a full-size pickup truck you need. Sorry, go buy a Ford, they make decent truck.

If you want a box where you can open it up and replace the hard drive or RAM or video card, go buy a PC! Windows 7 isn't *that* bad.
