Insignia TiVo TVs get leaked release schedule

Insignia's once-vaporware TiVo-integrated TVs have shown up again in a leak on Friday. Now called the cTV, the sets would offer every non-DVR feature of a TiVo, ranging from CinemaNow and Netflix video to Napster and Pandora music. Materials obtained by Zatz Not Funny suggested TiVo would instead be used as a smart TV interface to find Internet content without Insignia, most often known as Best Buy's in-house brand, having to invest in the work.

Details on the sets are short other than that it would have Wi-Fi for networking and come in both 32- and 42-inch model, presumably to keep the price low. Going without DVR features will also waive the need for a TiVo subscription and will only hinge on the costs with the individual services themselves.

Best Buy's material has the cTVs arriving in stores on July 31 for an unknown cost.
