Oracle asks to question Larry Page in patent lawsuit

Oracle claims Page handled Java negotiations
As the ongoing legal battle between Oracle and Google continues to unfold, the former company has asked the court for permission to personally involve Google CEO Larry Page in the proceedings. The request calls for Page's deposition, claiming Google's co-founder drove the decision making that led the search giant to acquire Android.
"Mr. Page also participated in negotiations that took place between Sun and Google regarding a Java license for Android and in subsequent communications with Oracle's CEO, Larry Ellison," Oracle writes in the court filing.
Google countered the request, labeling it a "harassing demand" and asking for Oracle CEO Larry Ellison to testify in the case. The search company further argues that Oracle waited beyond the allotted time-frame for taking depositions, providing additional reason for the court to reject the request.
Oracle recently narrowed down its damage claim down to $2.6 billion for alleged patent infringement from Java code used in Google's Android operating system. The case may go to trial by October if a settlement is not reached. [via Reuters]
