Faster, updated version of Defy coming to AT&T?

A slightly upgraded version of Motorola's Defy mid-range Android smartphone may soon arrive at AT&T, This is my next reported on Thursday. While a source isn't revealed, the handset is said to get support for 850MHz, 1,900MHz and 2,100MHz HSPA bands, which are used by AT&T and some Canadian carriers as well. This leaves T-Mobile out of the equation, however, despite its carrying the original handset.

Purported differences from the original device include a faster, 1GHz OMAP 3620 processor rather than the earlier 800MHz CPU, and Android 2.3.3 shipping out of the box. Other than that, RAM, storage space, camera specs and the 3.7-inch display are said to be identical.

Whether the ruggedness of the Defy is carried over is unknown, but more than likely.
