Peel Personal TV Show Guide app for Android out

Peel has released a version of its Personal TV Show Guide app for Android smartphones (free, Android Market). Like the older iOS app, it allows users to browse custom tailored programming recommendations without the need to scroll through channel grids. The home screen shows Top Picks or favorite shows.

Touching said thumbnail will display the channel the show is playing on and a brief description of the episode. Swiping will then display related shows by genre. Like the recommendations in Netflix, Peel learns a user's likes and helps by making suggestions it thinks they will like. The app also lets users share what they are watching through Facebook or Twitter.

Unlike the iOS app, however, users can't control the home media theater setup using Peel's adapter. The company didn't explain why support had been left out.
