Designed for iOS devices, includes mic, control
BlueAnt, better known for its Bluetooth-based single-ear headsets for mobile devices, is now shipping the wired, traditional over-ear style headphones it calls the Embrace, a unit that offers high-quality stereo sound normally associated with headphones, but also includes the integrated mic and control mechanism familiar to owners of iPhones and other smartphones. The Embrace is the company's first hard-wired product.
The headphones are made from premium leather and metal, offering an almost-perfectly flat frequency response and highly-optimzed 40mm driver for what the company calls "true" fidelity "without any artificial enhancement." The unit features a long (36-inch) audio cable, a standard 3.5mm-to-6.3mm adapter for phones and other devices that use it, and a protective faux-leather case.
The headphones offer 20-20kHz frequency response, 103dB sensitivity, 24 ohm impedence and a max power rating of 15mW per channel. The product folds flat for easy storage and comes with a one-year warranty.
Though it was designed specifically for Apple's line of mobile devices, The Embrace works equally well with non-Apple smartphones, tablets and music players, and comes with a straight-through audio cable for those who don't need the integrated mic cord. It sells for $200 and is available through the company's website.
