Vizio Tablet starts hitting stores

Vizio Tablet finally lands

After being first teased at this year's Rose Bowl, the Vizio Tablet has started to arrive in stores as scheduled. Costco is among the stores starting to stock the device, where it is retailing for $329, a $20 discount off the full recommended retail. The device is shipping with Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) with a future upgrade to Android 3.2 or Ice Cream Sandwich a possibility.

One feature that separates the Vizio Tablet from other tablet devices is its in-built IR blaster, which can be used as a remote control for Vizio TVs as well as those by most other manufacturers. Otherwise it has the features expected for a tablet in the entry-level segment.

It has a single-core 1GHz Marvell-sourced processor, 512MB of RAM and just 4GB of internal memory. Its connectivity is solid, as it offers Wi-Fi 802.11n, Bluetooth and an HDMI out port. [via Engadget]
