Will be adding underwater camera to line-up

Nikon regularly releases new members of its Coolpix point-and-shoot camera line every August. Nikon Rumors reports that there will be several significant announcements. Included will be a ruggedized model, an underwater model and a new model with built-in projector.

The new rugged Coolpix will be Nikon's first. The underwater camera will mark Nikon's return to that special environment since retiring the Nikonos brand. The new projecting camera will be an upgrade to the company's P1100pj. That device features a 14.1 megapixel CCD sensor, 5x optical zoom, 720p recording, and a 14.1 lumens projector with a 30:1 contrast ratio.
