Netflix in talks on exclusive DreamWorks content

DreamWorks is said to be in talks with Netflix on an exclusive streaming content for its movies, Bloomberg maintains. An official deal could be announced as soon as this week, after both DreamWorks and Netflix make quarterly results announcements. Netflix already has similar deals in place with Paramount Pictures, Lions Gate, and Miramax.

DreamWorks has a pay TV deal with HBO that goes until 2014, according to a source. DreamWorks is being allowed out of the contract two years early, another person said. Netflix would then have access to DreamWorks from the start of 2013.

Netflix launched a rent-by-mail service in 2007 and has moved to offers streaming services as well. It bumped prices significantly earlier this month by merging its streaming and DVD-by-mail services for a single $15 per month price.
