iPhone 5 cases allege curved new design
A pair of case leaks Tuesday have hinted that talk of a major iPhone 5 redesign may be real. Two separate manufacturers both showed MobileFun a design that returned to a curved back. They also show what would clearly be a larger screen as the speaker and front camera would have to be pushed further to the top.
The design showed the camera largely being similar, despite talk of a redesigned camera layout. A large cutout for the home button might not necessarily represent an enlarged button given that one of the designs also has knowingly oversized cutouts for other areas.
The design is clearly for an iPhone, not an iPod touch, given the existence of holes for the microphone and the micro SIM slot.
Whether or not the finished product matches the cases isn't clear. Earlier case leaks backed some, but not all, of the changes. Apple is known to make design changes between early stages and the final model and might have modified the iPhone even if one or more of the designs is accurate. Some have claimed the next iPhone may just be a slight variant on the iPhone 4 design with few outside changes.
A finished iPhone 5 is rumored due in September.
