Latest push for Walmart's digital distribution

Vudu has announced that it has established a presence on Walmart's website. The portal serves as a direct link to Vudu's range of on-demand rental content. The site includes featured categories, including top new releases, a $0.99 "movie of the day," $2 rentals that are good for two days, and lists of titles that will soon be available to rent.

The addition of a dedicated Vudu area to Walmart's website represents the retailer's latest push to promote the rental services. Vudu was acquired by Walmart in 2010, though initial promotions were limited to digital movie cards that customers could purchase at brick-and-mortar stores and take home to redeem.

Vudu has worked to differentiate itself from competitors such as Netflix, offering customers subscription-free access to many titles on the same day as the DVD release.
