Chat logs point to possible framing

UK authorities claim to have arrested a member of the LulzSec hacking collective, who was known as Topiary, however conflicting reports raise the possibility that police may have been tricked into apprehending the wrong person. Police arrested a 19-year-old suspect located in the UK's remote Shetland Islands, as part of an "intelligence-led operation."

Details of the arrest conflict withinformation posted by the site LulzSecurityExposed, which claimed Topiary was actually a 23-year-old Swede, according to a DailyTech report. Several anti-LulzSec groups claim to have exposed the hackers' identifying information.

One of the anti-LulzSec hackers, known as The Jester, has posted chat logs that detail a plot to frame the person originally behind the name Topiary. If the information is accurate, the 23-year-old Swedish hacker may have stolen the name from someone in the UK whom he describes as a "troll."

"I'm hoping someone will go after him and think it's me," the Swedish hacker allegedly says in the chat logs. "Just hoping that they'll take the bait."

The UK authorities have yet to contradict their initial reports surrounding the Shetland Islands arrest.
