FCC documents point to Fusion Garage's JooJoo successor

updated 07:55 pm EDT, Thu July 28, 2011

Label shows Grid10 branding

Corroborating earlier reports, Fusion Garage appears to be moving ahead with the successor to the JooJoo tablet. The company has pushed a new device through the FCC using the model name Grid10. The label schematics suggest the device is built with a tablet-size form factor, however the documents do not provide further details surrounding the design.

Fusion Garage late last year confirmed that its original JooJoo tablet would be dropped, though the company promised to adopt Android for a new offering. Aside from its reliance on web-based content, the JooJoo also encountered problems with costs; the actual price effectively doubled from original targets of $200 to $300 and left the tablet with little to compete against the iPad and other alternatives.

It remains unclear if the new Android-based tablet will aim for the budget market. The company has yet to release pricing details or other information. [via LiliPuting]
