Google tablet optimized search now active

Google on Friday confirmed plans and optimized its search page for tablets. Both iPads and Android tablets now see a simpler results page with larger, more touch-friendly interface elements. The tweak brings larger, faster-loading images as well as continuous scroll to take advantage of the tablet format.

All of the adjustments should work either in portrait or landscape.

Visitors in 36 languages should see the search page gradually roll out over the next few days. Every iPad user will see it, but Android support will unusually need Android 3.1 or later and will lock out both 3.0 users as well as those using early or budget Android 2.x tablets.
