Flagship device performs in home market

Samsung has announced that its Galaxy S II smartphone has sold more than two million units in the company's home market of Korea. The achievement was reached just 73 days since the device arrived on the market. In comparison, the original Galaxy S took 144 days to hit the same number.

The company suggests the Galaxy S II is on track to eventually beat its predecessor's record of 3.2 million units in Korea. When the device finally arrives at all of its destination countries, the total number is expected to surpass 10 million.

Samsung has already published a teaser page for the Galaxy S II for the US, suggesting the device will arrive in the near future. Sprint is confirmed as one of the carriers, however a specific launch date has yet to surface.
