Motorola MB865 shows in ATT LTE areas

Motorola's mystery Atrix sequel could well be AT&T's first LTE smartphone if sources on Monday are accurate. Now thought to be the MB865, the phone is in field testing primarily in AT&T's LTE areas. The tip to Phone Arena claims the Android device has an LTE tracking code in the billing system.

Little is known about the MB865 outside of this and its use of Android 2.3 with Motorola's custom interface. Its similarity to the XT865 name for the Droid Bionic may hint at both being virtually identical on the inside outside of their needed voice support, with a dual-core TI OMAP processor and an eight-megapixel camera capable of 1080p video. Both the Bionic and the unnamed AT&T phone should have a 4.3-inch, 540x960 screen.

AT&T is due to start up its LTE network in five cities during the summer and will have 70 million people potentially covered by the end of 2011. As such, the phone will probably ship before the end of the year.
