ASUS working on next-gen Eee Pad Transformer

ASUS says it already has a sequel to its popular Eee Pad Transformer tablet in the works. ASUS chairman Jonney Shih says that the company is working on a Transformer 2 that is 'impressive.' However, Shih would not be drawn into revealing any details about the device or its launch date.

ASUS claims that the current model Transformer shipped 300,000 in June and 400,000 in July. It is powered by a combination of Android 3.1 (Honeycomb) and NIVIDIA's dual-core Tegra 2.

Rumor has it that the Transformer sequel could be powered by NVIDIA's next-generation SoC, the quad-core Tegra 3 (Kal-El), which due to begin appearing in products from September. [via Tom's Guide]
