Twitter goes HTML5-native on iPad
Twitter on Tuesday said it had started bringing out a version of its website optimized for the iPad. Its first-ever tablet version uses HTML5 and is superficially a cross between the regular desktop page and the iPhone-ready page. iPad visitors get better support for touch gestures and can see information related to tweets in the sidebar.
The company discounts the redundancy as a matter of preference, noting that some prefer web apps over native. Its template potentially gives Android and BlackBerry PlayBook users support in the long term as the two lack properly optimized official Twitter apps. Neither has a timetamble for their optimized pages.
Earliest adopters get the HTML5 page immediately, but all other iPad users should have it within a week. [via TechCrunch]
