JVC HM670 targets female users

JVC is releasing a high performance camcorder, the Everio GZ-HM670. The video camera features the company's Falconbrid video processing engine, its newer, hybrid processor to handle both stills and video at very high speeds. It's based on a 40nm design and can handle up to 8.3 megapixels at 60 frames per second.

Although not an option for the HM670, the Falconbrid is capable of recording 3D and 4K videos. It's already used in JVC's GS-TD1 3D video camera.

The HM670 is relatively powerful outside of the chip with a 40X optical Konica-Minolta zoom, a 2.7-inch touchscreen LCD, and a 3.3-megapixel backside-illuminated CMOS sensor that helps in low light. It has 32GB of internal memory and takes up to SDXC cards. Video comes to the camera using AVCHD (H.264) with stereo Dolby audio.

JVC is offering the HM670 in "Urban Black" as well as colors that target a broader audience, specifically women. It will come in "Ultra Brown" for adult women who like "dark, chic" tones and "Silky White" for active and sporty young woman. Other "soft and elegant colors" will include White Gold, Royal Blue and Red Rouge.

Pricing should sit at the equivalent of $500. The product will be ready in limited colors this month. [via Akihabara]
