Carrier asks users to report problems

T-Mobile is reportedly investigating potential problems that have caused some phones to quickly exhaust their batteries. The company posted a note on its support site acknowledging concerns from many subscribers. Although the memo does not point to a specific device, the subsequent posts are overwhelmingly dominated by users reporting problems with the G2.

Many of the users suggest switching to "2G mode" provides a temporary fix. Some claim the problem is causing the battery to drain in just a few hours, rather than a typical lifespan of one to two days between charges.

It is unclear if the problems are related to the Gingerbread upgrade, which began to arrive as an over-the-air update a day before users started to complain of battery problems. Many of the reports, however, are claimed to be related to handsets that did not yet receive the new software.

T-Mobile claims to be "working aggressively" to resolve the issue, however the company has yet to provide a time-frame for a solution. [via TmoNews]
