updated 12:40 pm EDT, Thu August 4, 2011

Staples will drop price on 32GB model as well

[Updated with Staples ad] A source has obtained a special offer for the HP Touchpad that will be good this weekend only. According to the leak, during August 5-7 the 16GB version of the TouchPad will be offered for $100 off at the HP website. Staples will reportedly make a similar offer during that same time period, discounting $100 from either TouchPad model.

The discount would bring the price of the 16GB TouchPad to $400. Staple's offer, if valid, would lower the price of the 32GB version to $500. [via PreCentral]

    Slippery Slope

Dazzle them with a discount! People who buy on price alone find the flaws in their thinking AFTER thay have it.

    Sales channels clogged

If their sales channels are clogged and they have to move them, take ExLax and Zune them out.

    No Thanks

At $400 I would just as soon buy an Asus Transformer.

    For even $300...

you can do more with an iPod and than this. For even $99, I would rather get Nintendo DS instead.
