Pierre Cardin ships 7-inch, Android 2.2 tablet

French design house Pierre Cardin has just introduced its first electronics with a seven-inch Android tablet. The designer device, the PC-7006, is unusually modest for the luxury credentials with a 1GHz Cortex A8 processor and 512MB of RAM. There is just 4GB of storage space onboard, though it can be expanded through the microSD card slot.

The normally Wi-Fi only tablet can get a 3G connection through an optional exterior dongle. A front-facing, 1.3-megapixel camera is onboard as well. Despite the release schedule, Android 2.2 cones loaded and not the more recent 2.3 or tablet-optimized 3.1.

The tablet is now available for 275 British pounds (about $450). [via Wired]
